A Slew of 2012 Reading Challenges

happy-new-yearHappy New Year to everyone!

In 2011, I vowed to read 60 books and ended up reading 16 books over that number! Despite being in school full-time, working 20 hours a week, and doing a Teen Services internship, I was able to indulge in my favorite pastime: reading young adult and middlegrade novels!

As a result, I have high hopes for myself for this year. That being said, the below challenges are just that–challenges! It’s possible that I won’t be able to do them all, but a girl can dream, right?

On a side note, I often feel that I could spend the rest of my life reading and not get to all the books that I want to. Does anyone else ever feel that way? Anyway on to the challenges….

I am going to *try* complete the following challenges:

2012 debut author challenge

The Story Siren‘s 4th Annual Debut Author Challenge: The objective here is to read and review a minimum of twelve young adult or middle grade debut novels between the dates of January 1, 2012–January 31, 2013. Click on the image for full DAC details.

goodreads 2012 reading challenge Goodreads.com’s 2012 Reading Challenge: I am going to try read at least 100 books in 2012 (that’s 24 more books than I read last year!). You can click the image to see my progress if you’re interested.

Sophomore Reading Challenge!Chick Loves’s Lit awesome Sophomore Reading Challenge: This is a challenge to read at least 1o second young adult or middlegrade novels published in 2012. It can be the second in a series, a new series, or a standalone. The only requirement is that it’s published in 2012 and is the second book the author has published in the YA or MG realm.

Book Chick City‘s fun 100+ Books in a Year Reading Challenge: Pretty straightforward: read 100+ books in 2012 (any genre).

 Some other various blog goals:

  • Although I read a lot last year, I wasn’t always very good about writing reviews. This year, I want to review more of the books that I read.
  • I plan to post more booklists so that educators and fans can find readalikes for their favorite books.
  • Include more booktalks for both middlegrade and young adult books.
  • My hope is to shorten the blog name and redesign the entire site within the next few months! I have big plans, now I just need to execute them!

I should definitely hit up that Goodreads 100 books challenge. Because we all need more goals! I already decided that 2012 would be reading intensive for me,so might as well make it official!

Ok, this may be lame but I’d love to be able to read 50 books this year. That’s nothing compared to others, but for me it’s a big deal!
